Hiya! I've been lurking here on and off for a few weeks and this morning decided to take the plunge and sign up. I'm Nancy, and I've been Who-obsessed for just over 20 years now, which should explain how I ended up here! I love the new series, but was frustrated with it midway through this year's series, and in the process of looking for a happy Doctor icon, and thus hunting through the movie, I got really truly completely hooked. (I don't want to think about how many times I've watched the movie in the last two months!) And then friends pointed me toward Withnail and, well... need I say more?

I spent some time capping W&I and will post some of those in the appropriate section--not all of them are currently uploaded to Photobucket, but if I have time I'll look through to see which ones are missing and then post them here as well. Smile

Thanks! I am still amazed that I did not melt into a puddle of carbon ooze when I first saw that scene (though I believe I did have to reach down to the floor and pick my jaw up in order to close my mouth!).

Paul knows not what he does... Or does he??? Wink

Hi Nancy--good for you for finally giving in to your weakness and joining up! (Or something like that... Confused ) Nice to have you with us. Smile Withnail is decidedly my favorite Paul film, and one of my favorite films in general.

Yah, the shaving scene is pretty lethal--the man's definitely dangerous when wet. And shirtless. Not to mention lathered.

Enjoy la bibliothèque, Nancy! Very Happy

I wasn't sure what to expect, especially since friends kept saying things like "I'm curious to know what you think" (does that mean they think you'll like it? Or hate it? Or be freaked out by it, or....?). I pretty much fell in love with it instantly, though, hence my frantic search for a Region 2 copy with the commentary track when I got to London last week!

Amen. It's no coincidence that the same cap is also my desktop wallpaper--and that I am slightly taken by surprise every time I get to that scene, and have to get my breathing back to normal again Wink

Hi! Yes, we are--are you in Manhattan? I'm outside of Princeton.

Hi Saphira! Hee, Withnail and I has become my very favorite movie, and I had to get the Region 2 DVD as well for Paul's commentary. He's so adorable in the movie, all young and full of panic!

Nope, I'm on Staten Island, which is almost Jersey depending who you ask! Wink

Thanks, all! ::waves::

(I was all sorts of confused--and still am, really--at the discovery of a regional branch of a club a while ago. It was the "Staten Island/Central Jersey" branch, which makes no sense to me, what with North Jersey being in between! Ah well...)

Welcome to the Library Nancy!!
When I first saw Withnail and I, I wasn't too sure what to make of it. Since then, I've seen it several times and I've grown to love it. A movie which includes a curly haired Paul just adds to the charm.
