Hi all,
I finally uploaded my pictures of the HH con in Williamsburg, where some of the Librarians were present: Mayhem (emay), JayJay (Desdemona), Lindsaygirl (BushBlower) and myself (sotl).

*I hope I didn't leave anybody out*

You can find them here.

Enjoy!

Wow, excellent piccies, thanks Gaby!
Are those members coming from Horatians, or another Hornblower group? Was there an actor? Do the actors know that there are Hornblower conventions?

Hi Akka. The people in Gaby's photos are all Horatians. And, yes, the actors do know there are Hornblower conventions, and some are very kind (especially Paul Copley who plays Matthews) and generously donate goodies that are used as door prizes at the con. However, Paul McGann hasn't responded to any queries from the Horatians.

Glad you liked the pictures Akka.

All the people in the pictures belong to Horatians. The HH cons are basically for Hornblower fans (from any board), so anybody is welcome. The organizers typically write to the actors to invite them and to ask for goodies or anectodtes or whatever. Some actors are better than others about responding.

Every year Paul Copley (Matthews) sends something special. The years he has sent signed pictures, he has made sure everyone present gets one. He has also sent some long letters full of stories about the filming of the movies and other assorted memorabilia.

These are the most impressive items, one of the shirts he wore in the movies

and one of the make-up chairs.

This year he sent CDs with HH2 professional images that are lovely. He really is a very special man.

Gaby, the pics are wonderful! It's nice to be able to put faces to names. I lurk over at Horatians also (now you know my secret!).

Wow, thanks for the reports, Gaby and Estelle! I think itīs a wonderful idea to let the Hornblower time live further and that people with the same hobbies get together!
I remember "Matthews", I canīt believe he does all the things every year, thatīs really a good sign of a man! And even an actor!
I saw him in another movie, he was a thief or murder or so and this role was sooo different to Matthews! Very Happy

Paul Copley is a great guy to contribute. What a dear!
I remember hearing/reading on the old A&E boards about the first con they did in Portsmouth near or on the Indie, and wasn't it Ioan and Sean Gilder made an appearence? How cool that was.

Thanks for those lovely pics, Ship!

It's so nice to remember how all this germinated from those HH films back in 1998....at least for me.

Ships, Seafaring, Mariners, PMG...the lovely people who interested in the films, the history, the actors and so it goes....

That's right, they had dinner on the Grand Turk and Ioan and Sean as well as some of the production crew did show up to it.

I am glad everyone is enjoying the pictures.
