On February 7, 2000 Richard E. Grant held a charity screening of Withnail & I followed by an auction of various items from the film in order to raise money for the Waterford School in Swaziland. Cast members, including Paul, were on hand to sign autographs and answer questions. A video of the evening fete was also available for sale, and the following caps are taken from the latter.

I always wondered what Chris Evans the talk show host looked like:

Thank you. Very Happy Withnail & I is my favourite film.

Does anyone know how I can get hold of a copy of this video? It's one of two videos I've been looking for, along with The Peculiar Memories of Bruce Robinson documentary.

Hi Marwood. I can burn you a copy of the DVD I made from the video. Please PM or e-mail me your address.

When I joined the PMEB in April 2000, I heard lots of buzz about this event, since several UK and even a US member got to attend. I forget the address I wrote off to requesting a copy of the video (though it may be somehere in the PMEB archives). The vid came with a note apparently signed by REG, in which he said he hoped I could play the PAL tape. Smile

And to think I just put 27 and 16 together a few weeks back, and realized he was 'Benvolio' in the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet--and I used to drool over him in Tiger Beat magazine when I was twelve! Surprised

Who on earth, knew? It's no wonder he was hit on
by Franco Zefferelli before they even started filming...

And he wasn't lookin' too shabby during the 'Withnail' years, either.
I think I just became a Bruce Robinson fan. Wink

Quite.

Wow, great pics! The one from Private Road is directly from his 'I' years--he'd be just about 25 there, which is more or less where Marwood is supposed to be. That's so cool! Thanks for the pics. Yeah, BR pics are few and far between on the net, unfortunately. Sad

A few production shots from Withnail. He sort of has an Eddy Van Halen thing going on in the first one, no?...

Here are pics of Paul modeling a second Marwood coat.

Paul seemed a little subdued compared to REG. His wife Annie told PMEBer Lynn Gavigan that he was smiling on the inside though.

This next set of images cracks me up:

Paul kept his tongue stuck out for a few moments on the video and looked thoughtful.
