I'm good Very Happy thanks a lot! About time I started posting here again... been too long... so how many are down on the list already and for sure? I'm thinking of making a 3d print of a bust of Mr Bush and giving it to Paul to sign - that'd be great...

At this point I'm about 85% sure I'm going. A friend of mine is a podcaster who lives up that way and is trying to get me a press pass. I'm about to just go on and buy one myself, get reimbursed if the press thing goes through, and now I need to figure out how the expletive I'm going to get a train up there on Thanksgiving weekend because no one wants to drive!

Got my membership, my flight booked, and my room booked. The only thing I don't have reserved is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel.

Aw Ship! We're so gonna miss you!! Crying or Very sad Anything we can get Paul to do for you that could make it up a bit?

I'm going to be experiencing the travel nightmare from the ground - driving in. Not especially looking forward to it - but I'm hoping everyone will be where they intend to go by the time I hit the road Thursday! Gack.

Hey, Magda!!! It's so cool that you'll be going to Chicago. I've got the membership, and Teri's reserved our room. I need to buy plane tickets and arrange for a couple of my kids to accompany me. They plan to check out Chicago, while I do con stuff Smile

Michelle, I'm arriving on Wednesday.

I don't like to fly and here in the States that Wednesday thru Sunday is the WORST time to fly because of the Thanksgiving holidays. So, I'll be spending Thanksgiving Day alone (Thursday) recovering from the flight, maybe a little hungover. I don't leave until Monday. Thank God I have 4 weeks of vacation each year, too bad I can't take it all at once.

Estelle,

Can we have a new thread under Doctor Who Conventions for Chicago? Then everyone could post what day/time they're arriving. I get into O'Hare some time on Thursday (REALLY need to check that!) but I have lots of questions for those of you who have done this sort of thing before, like what to wear - is there any chance to wear something nice or is it jeans and t.shirts? I've only done the one-day cons so far and it's very much casual wear.

I'm very excited... may have mentioned that some months ago and it's STILL 3 months away!

I've been planning to list CT2009 under the the convention category, Michelle, but have been dilatory. I'll get it set up later this evening.

Michelle, I've never been to a specifically DW con but I've been doing cons in general -- about seven a year -- for going on 10 years (GAAAAAAAAAHSUGEBUFSDGFUDS) and it tends to be pretty much whatever you're comfortable with wearing.

My friend who used to go to Visions is going to help me sort my train ticket tonight ... I'm NOT driving, I've decided!!! Just need to figure out what to do about a hotel room. Embarassed Yeah ... forgot about the whole SLEEP thing, but that tends to happen to me at cons. My friend in Milwaukee, the one trying to get press passes, is gonna bail on me if he can't get one because he is a horrible human being, so I have no idea what's going on there.

Also, can anyone help me figure out in advance where the most convenient ABC in Chicago is? I would love to bring up a bottle or two of something but I'm not sure how various railroads feel about the presence of recreational beverages that are not their own. Sad
