If this doesn't launch a 1000 words don't know what will. I'm working on a "better" version but there's such a melancholly to this sketch. Comes from the idea that he seems to get wet in quite a a bit of his work.

Love it! I can't wait to see your other versions. Smile Paul would make a gorgeous merman, wouldn't he?

Actually, I think he's perfect to play other mythical/legendary creatures as well, like an angel for instance. I totally agree with Kenneth Branagh when he described Paul's beauty as numinous and otherworldly.

I've always imagined Paul as the angel Balthamos in "The Amber Spyglass" by Philip Pullman, or as the angel Aziraphale in "Good Omens" by Pratchett and Gaiman. Especially the way he looked as Marwood in W&I, with the curls and angelic face. In fact, just look up at his photo on this site's top banner...Marwood + lighter hair color = Aziraphale! Very Happy Sadly, I'm no artist or I would definitely attempt to draw these 2 angels. In case there are some who haven't read these books, you all just have to trust me on this. Wink

An angel is an interesting thought, but I've always got a water vibe off of him.

The merman comes from my doodle book, there's s many ways the story could go, a reversed little mermaid, Mr Bush thought drowned but come back to help Hornblower, the Doctor caught in some situation.

LoL. Unlike Mr. Bush, Paul is an excellent swimmer, or so I've read somewhere.

Ah! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought he may look good all mer'ed up!
I did two of him, if anyone would be interested in taking a look.

I'll have to get some scaly fabric somewhere but the design fits Smile

Yeah, that's where baby dolls come from.
